Bertha Gisclair Matherne resident of Spring, Tx and a native of Barataria, La passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the age of 85 years. Bertha was born on January 19, 1938, to Evelyn Billiot Gisclair and Bennett Gisclair. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Bertha loved her family more than anything in this world. She is survived by sons, Gilbert Matherne Jr. (Gwen) and Bobby Matherne; daughters, Debbie Matherne Fox (Brad), Peggy Matherne Christen (Donald Sr.), Cheryl “Dolly” Matherne Lowery and Terrie Matherne Bland (William); and sisters, Mary Ledet, Katie Daigle (Delma) and brother, Benny Gisclair (Cheryl). She is also survived by grandchildren, Stephanie Hill (Ron), Gilbert Matherne III (Roxanne), Bobby Matherne Jr. (Talia), Joshua Matherne (Kristen), Meagan Loerwald (Jared), Stacy Beatty (Roy), Bambi White (Alex), Michael Christen, Dustin Lowery (Alisia), Misty Bowman (Brad), Amy Freeman (Matt), Surell McBride (Aaron), and numerous great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gilbert Matherne Sr.; daughter, Karen “KK” Matherne; grandson, Donald Christen Jr; sister, Bernice Cheramie; brother, Tony Gisclair; daughter-in-law, Brenda Matherne and sons-in-law, Archie Lowery Jr., and Durel “Du” Doucet. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 9 am until funeral at 11 am at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy Gonzales, La. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband at Hope Haven Garden of Memory 604 E Hwy 30, Gonzales, La. Pallbearers will be Bobby Matherne Jr., Joshua Matherne, Gilbert Matherne III, Michael Christen, Hayden Lowery, Logan Freeman, Brady Lowery, and Mason Freeman. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home.
