Whether one has met Ashton just once or known him for years, all can agree Ashton was indeed one-of-kind. Here are a few things about him that most of you already know, and for others, may come as a surprise:
• First and foremost – Ashton loved being surrounded by his friends!
• He loved gaming on Xbox with gamertag: youngchizzle (live on youngchizzle…live on).
• He loved his hair, his jewelry, and his yellow Vans backpack.
• He was enamored by unique muscle cars especially the El Camino. When I (mom) said they were the ugliest cars ever made, he knew he had to have one.
• He was incredibly passionate for all kinds of music - especially Blues, Jazz, and LA BR Hip-Hop.
• He loved the bass guitar and would gladly give you 101 reasons why the bass was far superior to its acoustic counterpart. I might be biased as his mom, but my goodness, my son could play.
• Ashton believed the best way to cook eggs was over a campfire in the woods.
• He thought naps were best taken in a hammock under a shady oak tree.
• He loved playing baseball as a kid because he had the two best coaches in the world – Coach Jimmy and Coach Daddy.
• Ashton found peace and tranquility strolling through Abby’s family pasture, building his secret hide-out in the woods, and jumping off the rope swing he crafted at the bayou.
• He loved fishing for bass in the backyard then walking down to the bridge to load up on blue gill. Collin and Ashton called it,”rippin’ lips.”
• He loved his pets: Carly, Mr. Squirrel, Homie, Pepper, Johnny, and Hot Dog (baby catfish) until he ate Stupid (goldfish).
• He loved anything that could breathe air or flourish in soil. Gardening became his passion (thank you BoBo).
• Ashton didn’t care for the type of weeds that grew in his garden but did have a fondness for the variety one could buy.

In lieu of flowers:
Please consider planting something green in your own yard. Ashton’s recommendations would include sunflowers, an oak tree, or perhaps an exotic jalapeño pepper plant. As you stand over your new plant with water hose in hand, please take a moment to converse with Ashton…for he will be standing right by your side.
• A tree can be planted in remembrance of Ashton through the Arbor Day Foundation. For more information, visit shop.arborday.org.
• Ashton also had a favorite non-profit organization – The Voice of the Wetlands (VOW). When he was young, we toured the wetlands by helicopter. It was an eye-opening experience to the troubles that plague Mother Earth right in our backyard. He went on to volunteer by the side of his father, Un-Yawn, and the Benoit Brothers cooking turkey legs and stirring the rice pot for the annual VOW Festival. The multiday, concert event was such a great time for our family and really paved the way for Ashton’s passion for conservationism, charity work, and food & music found only in southern LA. The festival takes place annually on or around Ashton’s Birthday. Mark your calendars now for October 2023, so we can all gather in celebration of Ashton’s beautiful soul in a place I know he would want to be. To learn more about VOW, please visit voiceofthewetlands.org. Donations made in Ashton’s honor, can be mailed to:
