A memorial service for Carol will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a reception to follow from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 1401 S Grand Ave, Glendora, CA 91740.
Carol Jean Alnett Sugar Asquith was born in Los Angeles California to Edith and David Alnett. Carol’s father died when she was a young girl. Edith went on to marry Norman Lockhart, and with that, Carol gained a stepfather and two older stepbrothers Richard and Darrel. Carol graduated from Wilson High School in 1955 and excelled in Home Economics. She enjoyed being a member of Job’s Daughters for 4 years. After misrepresenting her age to get a work permit, at 15 years old, Carol and her girlfriends would take the Red Car into downtown Los Angeles to work in customer service for a Five and Dime Store.
Carol had three children with her first husband Charles Sugar. Susan and husband Ed Young, Kristy and husband Preston Evans, George and wife Ingrid Sugar. She has five grandchildren, Sara and husband Anthony Scalise, Megan and husband Ryan Bride, Garrett Evans, Kirra and Nico Sugar and two great grandchildren Kyla and Sierra Scalise
Carol enjoyed her home in Glendora which she loved decorating. She made every holiday festive and Christmas time at Carol's was simply magical! Carol had the gift of hospitality and loved a get together.
Carol also enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She was a woman on the go, whether it was going to a movie down the street or riding in an outrigger in Tahiti. Her most recent adventure was to Yosemite this past December.
Carol spent most of her adult life as a homemaker, taking care of her young family. She became a Real Estate Agent at age 50 and excelled in her career.
Carol lived life to the fullest, made the best out of every situation and saw only the good in everyone she knew and loved. Her family and many friends meant the world to her. If she knew you, she also knew your entire family, your parents, your in-law’s, and your pets!
She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship for the past nine years and made many dear friends during that time.
We are at peace knowing that Carol loved the Lord and is now in her eternal home.
