Leticia T. Reyes

Leticia Tumang Reyes just shy of her 84th birthday passed away at Pavillion Nursing Home, Flushing, NY on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Leticia is survived by her devoted husband, Ricard O. Reyes of 60 years. She was a loving mother to her 3 children and their spouses: daughter Miraflor and her husband Zenin Ganzon, son Raymond and his wife Maria and son Mar Anthony.

Leticia was born in Tarlac, Philippines on January 15, 1937 to Porfirio and Conchita Tumang. She graduated in 1961 from Mapua Institute of Technology with a BS in Chemistry. She then continued her studies to obtain a BS in Medical Technology in 1967. If that wasn’t enough after 20 years of working as a medical technician at the age of 51, she went back to school to study nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1993. She worked hard as a RN in Jamaica Hospital until she retired in 1999.

She enjoyed her retirement by traveling to the Philippines and other parts of the world including Mexico, Canada, and USA in California, Florida, Las Vegas, and Chicago. She loved to sing especially karoke. She would learn the song and even take time to write down the lyrics to perfect it.

Even in her retirement years, her caring nature did not cease. She would call her friends and family to say hello, check on them, even give medical advice if she knew they were ailing. She sent birthday cards and Christmas cards with sweet notes written in them. She was very generous and gave money to those in need. She was a giving person in everything she did. Her smile captured the essence of her inner beauty.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on January 16, 2021 at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart RC Church, 83-17 78th Ave, Glendale, New York. Burial will be held on January 16, 2021 at 11:45 am at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood, Farmingdale, NY.
