On Tuesday, September 23,1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jacqueline Annette, the daughter of Ernest and Olivia White was brought into this world by the grace of God. At an early age, ”Jacquie” moved to Southern California with her family. She lived with her siblings Renee, and Michael in the Harbor City area of Los Angeles, and Jacquie attended Narbonne High School Class of 1976 in Harbor City. In August of 1978, After seeing a dramatic change in the life of her mother Olivia ”Obie” Chappell when she came to Christ at Greater Bethlehem Temple Church in Los Angeles; Jacquie felt the need to fully give her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and months later was filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. The Lord had dramatically changed her life. God began to use her voice immediately by singing in the Choir at Greater Bethlehem Temple Church, other local churches, and both State and National Conventions of the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith Organization. Her signature songs were “Be Grateful” by Walter Hawkins, and “Rise Again” by Dallas Holm. Jacquie began to grow in grace and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ through personal study, Sunday School, and Bible Class taught by Bishop Winston Singleton. But being young and single, she had a desire to be married. It was at Greater Bethlehem Temple Church where Jacquie met Lawrence Webster who was saved and attending Long Beach State University. They began a courtship in 1980 and were married April 4,1981. The Lord began to bless Jacquie and Lawrence naturally and spiritually as they settled in Los Angeles and began to start a family. The first of four children were born in 1982 with son Jaazer, then a “miracle baby” daughter Zakia born 3 months premature weighing 2 ½ pounds in 1984, then son Jahmai in 1985. Because of the growing family God blessed Jacquie and Lawrence with a home in the San Fernando Valley suburb, Granada Hills, CA in 1986. In 1990, the fourth child, son Jalon was born. Jacquie having four children was truly remarkable being that she was born with a heart condition and according to doctors was not supposed to live pass 30 years of age. During the first pregnancy the doctors installed a pacemaker where she had a natural birth. The rest were c-sections still with the risk of heart complications. Even still, it was evident that God’s blessings were on her and her family. As was a theme throughout her life, Jacquie exemplified a woman who persevered through life’s challenges. She showed incredible resilience, kept the faith, and managed to smile, even in the most difficult of circumstances. One of her unique qualities was her laugh, where it was very common that she would laugh so hard that she could not breath. Despite major health challenges, Jacquie did not let that stop her from enjoying life to the fullest. She loved to travel, spend times with family and friends, go to concerts and shop. If you knew Jacquie you also knew that she was not leaving the house without impressing. Hair done, Nails long, everything did. Another constant throughout her life was her love for singing. Jacquie, along with sisters in the church, Vivian Hector, Renee Cruz, Barbara Ivey, Nichelle Malone, and Anne Stedham formed an “in church” Gospel singing group “The Voices of Power” who were blessed, anointed, and highly favored singing at various churches, and programs. Their signature song was “Is My living In Vain” by the Clark Sisters. When the Voices of Power would sing this song, the anointing of God was upon them, and God’s presence would fill the church. Jacquie also would begin singing and acting professionally. She was cast in the Evelyn Jones Reed’s Stage play “What In Hell Do You Want ?”, and She was in the original cast of Michael Matthews Stage Play “Momma I’m Sorry” performed at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. After the play was successful, Michael Matthews brought in highly established Hollywood actors and entertainers. Jacquie also shared her vocals on projects such as Jermaine Jacksons album on the song “Let’s Get Serious,” Searchlight Gospel Singers and was a part of The D’Frence Vocal group with Trina Wallace-Woodbridge and Sheronda Bailey in 2001. In 2004, Jacquie would record her own feature project, “God’s Not Through.” After receiving a personal education from her mother who ran a successful business, “Pink Puff Salon”, and attending Cosmetology School, Jacquie started her own business as a licensed Manicurist and Barber, following in her mother’s footsteps.
Later in her life Jacquie married Typree Lee where they lived in Rialto, CA for over 18 years. Typree Lee preceded her in death in 2018. On the morning on October 5th, 2020, God called Jacqueline Annette home. Jacquie is survived by Lawrence Webster, husband of 18 years, firstborn son Jaazer & his wife Alicia, only daughter Zakia Afi Webster, second son Jahmai & his wife Joanna, and third son Jalon Leon Cevell Webster. Her loving mother Olivia “Obie” Chappell, Carmeilla Renee Cruz, Maurice, Teya and Khaylon Cruz. In addition, younger brother Michael Banyard.
