Wanda Marcine Tweedy age 91 passed peacefully into Heaven on Wednesday Feb. 12, 2020 in Prescott Valley, Arizona at the home of her son Kenneth, where she lived for the past 6 years. Wanda was born in Bryant, Oklahoma on December 17, 1928 to the late Robert R. and Gladys Pearl (Hilderbrand) Duke.
Wanda graduated from Phoenix Union High School on May 31, 1946. She married Charles Junior Tweedy on October 18, 1947 and had over 50 wonderful years together. Wanda was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Glendale, Arizona for all of her life. She worked many jobs through the years outside the home to help Charles provide for four growing boys. She was exceptional in math and bookkeeping and used those skills in her career and church work. She enjoyed working in the church, for many years serving on the church board, working in Caravan, singing in the choir, and traveling on mission trips. When not in church she enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, watching game shows on tv (she got most of the answers before the show contestants did) and traveling with Charlie in their motorhome. She could often go thru a whole book of crossword puzzles in one day. There is not enough room in a few sentences to recall all the wonderful things that encompass a life of 91 years. Ask her family or friends, I'm sure there are many more.
Wanda is survived by her sons; Kenneth, Michael and Steve, brother; Ronnie Duke, grandchildren Rachael Tweedy, Sam Tweedy, Heather (Tweedy) Sconce, Chris Tweedy, Ben Tweedy, Crystal (Tweedy) VanDoren and Jacob Tweedy, great grandchildren; Mercedes, Marley, Isaiah, Randy, McKenzie, Caden, Austin, Danielle, and Derek and great great grandchildren; Kali and Alex and too many relatives and friends to mention here. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Gladys Duke, her brother Homer Duke, her husband CharlesTweedy and her son Randy.
