Susan "Sue" Tucek was born in Warren, Ohio, on August 16,1955, to Clark Corbin Postlethwait and May Lahmers. She was one of four children. Sue began her journey to pursue a career in nursing in 1982. She earned her AAS in Nursing from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1986. After having her daughter, Ashley, she moved to Arizona, where she attended Grand Canyon University and earned a Bachelor's in Nursing in 2009, followed by her Master's in Nursing Education in 2011. Sue loved her career in nursing and continued her education to include an additional six specialty certifications in Management of Clinical Information Technology. During this time, she worked for Banner Health, the Veterans Administration in Phoenix, and was a faculty member teaching nursing classes through the University of Phoenix. Sue excelled in her career and was so proud to be a nurse. She truly cared about her patients and students and would take the time to get to know them.
Sue's love for Arizona was evident. She enjoyed drives to Sedona to enjoy the Red Rocks, going to Prescott and Flagstaff to enjoy the scenery, listening to Christian and country music, and talking to friends and family. She enjoyed time with her family the most. She also loved to laugh. Much of her time with friends and family was spent sharing stories, talking about her faith in the Lord, and watching musicals like Chicago and comedy movies like Legally Blonde. Sue also had three grandchildren, who she loved more than anything. She would talk about them often. As her health declined, having "swing talks" in the backyard with friends and family kept her laughing and smiling. She continued to enjoy what she could, determined to make the best of her situation. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Sue is preceded in death by her mother, May Lahmers; her father, Clark Postlethwait; and a sister, Cheryl Ann, who passed away in infancy. She is survived by her children, Ashley Shook and David James Tucek, Jr.; her brother David "Davey" Postlethwaithe; sister Sandra Cooper; and her three grandchildren, Clarissa, Cadence, and Noah. As well as many other family and friends who love her and will miss her smile and laugh.
