Sue Maretta Wright, the proud mother, grandmother, sister, Nana, aunt, and cousin... was born on December 12, 1940 to Luther McCraw and Vera Wright, in Malvern Arkansas. At the age of eight, Sue left Arkansas with her mother and settled in Santa Monica, California.
Sue accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized at Tabernacle of Faith in Los Angeles, California. She was a long time church member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, where she served the Lord and sang in the mass choir for many years.
Sue attended Jordan High School in Los Angeles, Phoenix Union Institute, and Cal. State Dominguez where she took courses for computer literacy. Sue will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her culinary skills in the kitchen, as she felt pleased when she cooked for others. Also known for her style, elegance, and good taste, she often garnered attention when she dressed and went out. She loved to sing and would gladly accept an invitation to do so in her early days and later years.
While employed by Santa Monica Police Department, Sue was the co-founded of the "Domestic Crisis Unit" and was honored for her work by the City Mayor. She felt it was a reasonable service to be able to help in this humanitarian endeavor.
Throughout her career, Sue worked as a Communications Operator and Police Dispatcher, while employed by TRW Aerospace (12 years); Santa Monica Police Department (6 years); and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (18 years).
