Beloved daughter, godmother, sister to 8, and loving aunt to 27, left this world to be with God on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the age of 45. Better known as "Comanche", she was full of kind words, lighting up every room and living to make people laugh. Especially you....Born in Phoenix July 14, 1968, Stephanie touched the lives of everyone she met, falling in love with all things pink, the beach, RV's, the "Lake", and Notre Dame. She graduated from SS. Simon & Jude Elementary ('82), Bourgade Catholic High School (86), ASU ('93), and NAU (97). Steph worked as a P.E. Teacher at Bush Elementary in Mesa. An all-state softball player, Stephanie's passion was physical education, obtaining a Masters in Elementary Education. She really put the P in PE, and many believed her collection of colored whistles to be the best. Kids loved to hear Steph's mantra of "1-2-3 freeze! Hands on knees, eyes on me!" When she wasn't teaching, she passionately coached the Mesa Swishers basketball team for 12 years. Stephanie is survived by: parents Wally & Noreen; dearest friend Darlene; 8 siblings and their spouses; David (Julie), Lisa, Michael (Margot), Stacie (Robert), Pat (Sally), Julie (Ron), Jennifer, & Robert (Joann); 27 nieces and nephews. Stephanie's relentless need to touch people's hearts is still at work today. As an organ donor, she saved the lives of three other people. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 26th (5-7pm visitation; 7pm Rosary) at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27th at 1pm at Saint Jerome, reception to follow at Bourgade Catholic High School. Funeral arrangements handled by Chapel of the Chimes. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to causes near and dear to Stephanie's heart: the Mesa Assoc. of Sports for The Disabled, PO Box 4727, Mesa, AZ 85211 or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure , www.komenphoenix.org. Condolences may be left in Stephanie's online guestbook at forevercomanche.com.
