Paul Garcia

Paul Garcia, age 63, of Surprise, died August 12, 2018. He was born on September 2, 1954, in Phoenix, AZ to parents Remigio and Rosa Garcia. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Josefina, son, Lorenzo "Lencho" Arriola, daughter, Antonia Fairchild (Roger), his two sisters, Rosa Lee Preston and Lucia Abeytia, and his brother, Joseph ”Steve” Garcia (Betty). He was most proud of his grandchildren, Amanda Arriola, Roger, Andrea, Estevan and Brian Fairchild, Justin and Marcus Smith, Desiree Salas, Stephanie and Angelica Arriola, Christian Gonzalez, and Juan Falcon. He also had 10 great-grandkids.

Paul loved children. He spent 30 years as a security guard for the Dysart Schools, where all the students knew him. He worked 14 years at Chicanos por La Causa as a bus driver and custodian. In recent years, he enjoyed riding around Surprise, in his Mobie, with his great-grandson Matthew, and he talked to everyone. People remember him for his constant joking and his off-color remarks. He was an awesome husband, father, Tata, uncle, cousin and brother. His wife Josie was his everything - there is nothing that he wouldn’t do for her. Their love was one of kind. May you rest in the Glory of God in His heavenly kingdom.

A visitation will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ, on Sunday, August 19th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, with Rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 20th, at Santa Teresita Catholic Church, 14016 N Verbena St, El Mirage, AZ. Burial will follow at West Resthaven Cemetery.
