Henry Barrera Garcia, 78, of Glendale, Arizona entered into Heaven and joined his parents on May 20, 2019. Henry was born in Glendale, Arizona on October 30, 1940 the oldest of 4 children to Juan and Enriqueta Garcia. Henry and his brothers and sister were raised in Glendale where Henry attended and graduated from Glendale High School in 1960. Soon after graduation he joined the Army National Guard and was stationed in California and Hawaii. After returning home, Henry got an internship as an iron worker and went on to have a full career in industrial ironwork; to include building such structures’ as the Luxor, Circus Circus, other casinos in Nevada. In California he continued his work to include the Staples Center and The Golden Gate Bridge. Henry was married in 1979 and had 4 children of his own and later 2 beautiful granddaughters who were his heart and soul. Henry loved to travel especially over seas to Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy. Most recently to Canada, Germany, and Israel. He was a fan of both the Arizona Cardinals and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He loved to sing and dance and his favorite music was the oldies of the 50’s and 60’s. He loved instruments and had the desire to learn them. Henry is described as always being happy and the life of the party.
Henry leaves behind his children Rita (Garcia) Mayorquin, Stephanie (Garcia) Millan, Elyana Garcia and Enrique Garcia; grandchildren Alexa and Aliya Mayorquin; siblings John Garcia and Ruben Garcia.
He is preceded in Heaven by his mother and father and sister Charlotte Gonzalez.
Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary 7924 N 59th Ave. Glendale, Arizona 85301 on Thursday May 30, 2019 at 5pm; Rosary to start at 630pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish at 5614 W. Orangewood Avenue in Glendale, Arizona 85301 followed by a burial at Holy Cross Cemetery located at 10045 W. Thomas Road Avondale, Arizona 85392.
