Helen L. Cook passed away November 17, 2021. She was born September 5, 1932 in Cashion, Arizona to Albert and Della Dominy. The family grew with the addition of brothers Wade and Gale. Helen attended Peoria High School where she played clarinet in the band and was a drum majorette. She and Bob Cook reconnected after high school at a dance. They danced, shared a Coke and fell in love. Helen and Bob married in February 1952. They farmed in and around Peoria for many years. Their love was blessed with the arrival of Debbie, Mark and Craig.
In addition to being a farmer’s wife and mother, Helen volunteered with the Peoria School District, giving hearing tests and helping in the nurse’s office long after her children were graduated. She was honored several times for her service, receiving the DOVIA Award for Outstanding and Dedicated Volunteer Service in 1985 and the Peoria School District Volunteer of the Year in 1987.
Helen was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Peoria since she was 13 years old. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served as an Elder on the church governing board, directed the children’s choir and served on many committees.
Helen enjoyed sewing, camping, waterskiing, gardening, flower arranging, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Helen and Bob traveled extensively after he retired and enjoyed many adventures with friends and family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, brothers Wade and Gale Dominy, daughter Debbie and son Mark.
Helen is survived by her best friend of 76 years, Lois Egbert; son Craig R. Cook (Maryanne) & grandchildren Patricia, Jonathan and E.C. Cook; son-in-law Craig Powell (Diane) and grandchildren Danielle (Daniel) Harman, Mackenzie, Zachary and Lauren Powell; 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 2PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale. Helen was laid to rest with Bob in Resthaven Park Cemetery.
