Elmer was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to many.
He learned the value of hard work as he grew up working on his family farm. He used the skills and character he developed as a young man to create a life-long career working in the construction and maintenance industries and a full life dedicated to his family.
Elmer loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church, reading the bible and listening to gospel music. He played the harmonicaand mouth harp at family singings or any time someone would listen. During his lifetime, he enjoyed many hobbies such as playing slow-pitch softball, playing cards and games, bowling, and watching basketball.
He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Anna (Schwartz) Steury; his sister, Susan Steury; and his brothers, Rudolph “Rudy” Steury, Henry “Hank” Steury, Amos Steury, Aaron Steury, Joseph “Joe” Steury, and Martin Steury.
Elmer was survived by his two daughters, Lori Gallardo and Lisa Young; his grandchildren, Joshua Gallardo, Gabriel Gallardo, NathanYoung and Garrett Young; his great-granddaughter, Luna Gallardo; and his brothers Enos Steury and Samuel Steury Jr.
Services for Elmer will be held at Chapel Of The Chimes Mortuary on 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, AZ 85301 on Saturday, May 4, 2024. A visitation from 9:30 AM to 11, a Funeral Service from 11 AM to 12 PM, and a Graveside Service at West Resthaven Cemetery At 12:30 PM.
