DONNA MAE FERSTL (September 1, 1946 to May 22, 2018)
Donna was born in La Porte, Indiana to Donald and Dorothy Sehstedt. Growing up there she was followed by two beloved sisters, Linda Lee and Shirley Ann. In 1959, Don moved the family to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she attended Sandia High School. Just before her Junior Year, the family relocated to Tucson, Arizona. There on her 16th birthday she first met her lifelong partner to be, Guy Ferstl. They started out just being good friends, but on his 18th birthday, October 26th, 1963, she asked him out on a school hayride and the rest is history. A third sister, Patricia Kay, joined the family soon afterward. On June 5th, 1964, Donna and Guy walked together at Tucson High School to receive their diplomas. Donna went on to complete a scholarship in Cosmetology at Tucson Beauty College while Guy attended one year at the University of Arizona. Guy joined the U.S. Army and attended Officer Candidate School. On May 18th, 1966, Donna and Lieutenant Ferstl were married in Tucson and she became an Army wife. She had thier first son, Thomas Friedrich, while Guy was serving in Vietnam. Their daughter Kristina Marie was born at Fort Sill, Oklahoma followed later by son Joseph Edward in Frankfort, West Germany. February 1977 Guy got out of the Service and started a 30 year career with the Phoenix Arizona Police Department. Donna also worked for the Department until medical problems forced her to go on disability. They relocated to Goodyear, Arizona and established their hacienda in the foothills of Donnas’ beloved Estrella Mountains.
