Courtney Lorraine Homer, age 30, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023, with her family by her side, in Glendale, Arizona, after a 10-year battle with Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
Courtney was born on October 18, 1992, in Phoenix, Arizona to parents of Kenneth (Ken) Brewster (1965-2020) and Joyce (Joy) Mahaney Brewster of Glendale, Arizona. She attended Mountain Ridge High School from 2007-2011 where she was a member of the varsity cheer team. She attended Arizona State University and completed her prerequisites in Nursing at Glendale Community College, earning her Associate's Degree in 2015 and was accepted into the Northern Arizona University Nursing Program. She taught dance at On Stage Dance Academy for several years, where she also trained and competed since the age of 4. At an early age, Courtney was very involved in dance, cheer, theatre, and pageants.
Courtney married Zachary (Zak) Homer of Glendale, Arizona on May 13, 2017. They met in 2012 and had an amazing 10 years together. Soulmates from the start, it was her greatest joy in life to spend time with Zak, as well as their three dogs, Dash, Stella, and Princess. She loved traveling and especially enjoyed their trips to Cancun, Riviera Maya, Cabo San Lucas, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Hawaii.
Not allowing anything to hold her back, Courtney had a zest for life and all it has to offer. Her many passions in life include music of all genres, electronic dance music, and festivals, dancing, hiking, the beach, paddle boarding, lounging by the pool or lake, going to concerts, sunsets, shopping, showers, Pepsi and playing a mean game of Fortnite. Making memories meant the most to her and she loved making them with her family and her friends whom she cherished.
Courtney was a light and ray of sunshine to everyone she met and the many lives she touched. She was a woman of faith and braved life's challenges always with a smile on her face, positivity, and joy in her heart. Her quick wit and zings, contagious laugh, beautiful smile, and sweet heart will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Brewster, and her grandmother, Lourina McGhee, and is survived by her husband, Zak Homer, and her mother, Joy Mahaney Brewster.
