Charlotte Pauline “Peggy” Blunt (Shelhammer), of Glendale, AZ, went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2017. Many knew her as “Purple Peggy”; she was 100 years old. Peggy was born in Horton, KS, on November 21, 1916, and was preceded in death by her husband James Blunt, who was the love of her life. They were married for over 63 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents Charles and Pearl (Mast) Shelhammer. Peggy was a homemaker for many years, but did work in the United States Navy Shipyard at Bremerton, WA, during WWII. Over her long, blessed life she touched so many lives with her sweet smile, loving heart, greeting cards, sweet potatoes and her love for the Lord. She will be missed by her family, friends, neighbors at Glencroft, her Southwest Church family and the many lives she touched through her many years. She loved her family with all her heart. She is survived by her sons Bill (Donna) Blunt, Skip Blunt, Jack (Kathi) Polchow; daughters Cheryl (Tom) Duffy and Toni Christensen along with 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at her beloved Southwest Church of Christ 8720 W. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85037 on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm. A Celebration of life will take place on November 25, 2017 at Glencroft. In lieu of flowers, Peggy requested donations be sent to her church, Southwest Church of Christ or Hospice of the Valley.
