Bill was born in Webbers Falls, OK on January 20, 1931 to Lewis and Daisy (Cardwell) McGrew. Bill joined the United States Navy in August of 1950 where he served as a gunner on a P2v bomber aircraft. While Bill had down time in the Navy he played for the US Navy farm league. Bill met his wife Marilyn while stationed in California. Bill and Marilyn were married on November 19, 1954 and soon moved to Glendale, AZ in 1965 where they raised their five children. Bill worked for the Glendale Police Department and then for Lockheed Aircraft at Luke AFB as an aircraft mechanic from 1966 to 1977 until he transferred with the company to Saudi Arabia. Upon his return from overseas, Bill relocated to Ft. Worth, TX where he continued his work with Lockheed as a General Foreman. Bill was a longtime member of good standing with the Church of Christ.
Bill McGrew is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn McGrew, and four of his five children; Michael, Robert, David, and Jean. Bill joins his daughter, Deborah, with the Lord. Bill and Marilyn have many grandchildren as well. Bill is also survived by his sister, Helen Moore, of Muskogee, OK.
Viewing time for Bill McGrew is 1:00pm on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 North 59th Ave., Glendale, AZ 85301. Interment will be held across the street at West Resthaven following the viewing at 2:30pm.
Bill will be remembered for his strong faith in the Lord, his love for family, and his uncommon generosity. We will always carry Bill’s memory fondly in our hearts.
