Although he experienced many challenges (such as having both Spinal Meningitis and Polio, during childhood), he always came through to find a way to be a Joy Bringer. He loved to make people smile by any means necessary.
Since he was a kid, and all through adulthood, he was fascinated with performing magic, both impromptu and professionally, before live audiences. He even taught magic at summer camps.
He proudly spent two years in the United States Army, 1964-66, with service in Vietnam, loading and transporting munitions, manually and by manning amphibious vessels.
After his service, Barry graduated from a quality Men's Hairdressing School and became an instructor at the same school. Upon his marriage, in 1970, he moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he spent the rest of his life.
In Phoenix, as a highly skilled barber, he ran his own Men's Hair Salon, "Shear Artistry." Later, he was also a school bus driver for Paradise Valley Schools, delighting the kids on his busses with his skills as a magician.
In the 2000's, he was diagnosed by the Veterans Administration with Fronto-Temporal Dementia, possibly due to Agent Orange exposure, while in Vietnam. Nevertheless, his kind, friendly and humorous demeanor won him love and appreciation from so many friends, family and caregivers.
His intent was always to bring goodness, mercy and light-heartedness to bear, no matter what.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Lindsey, born in 1990, and his brother, Burt, two years younger than him, as well as by numerous cousins in other locales.
May His Memory Be a Blessing.
A graveside service for Barry will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 1:30 PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona (23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024).
