Barbara Louise Shepard

Barbara (Bobbie) Louise Shepard, 83, of Phoenix, AZ went to be with our Lord on August 19, 2017. She was born in St. Petersburg, Fla to Maurice & Embla Wilson. She is survived by her loving husband Dorald Shepard of 65 years, her daughters & sons-in-law Nancy & David Ostermeier, Cindy & William Stahl, grandchildren Christopher Ostermeier, Jessica (Brandon)Taronji, Rick Stahl, James Scott (Natalie) Stahl, Tim Stahl as well as 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Barbara (Bobbie) came to Phoenix after high school and met Dorald while working at the Indian School Drive-In theater, which began a 65-year love affair. She had a great love of sewing for her entire life and had worked as an alterationist & seamstress her early years. She also worked as a bookkeeper for many years. During the mid 60’s Dorald & Bobbie fell in love with iris flowers. This soon led to building Shepard’s Iris Garden, where they shared their garden and love of growing and hybridizing iris with people around the world for 40 years. In retirement she could be found at her sewing machine or researching family genealogy.

Visitation will be held on Monday August 28th from 6 to 8pm. Service will be on Tuesday August 29th at 10am, both at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Ave. Glendale, AZ 85301.Gravesite service to follow at 11am at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, AZ 85301. Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the American Heart Association.
