Marion Theda (Sanders) Marinelli, known to everyone as “Pat”, 96, of South Glastonbury, beloved wife of the late John Marinelli, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Seabury Meadows in Bloomfield. Born in Plainville, CT, on February 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Clesson Herbert and Marion Louise (Orvis) Sanders.
Pat loved ice cream, Elvis, trips to the beach, and being active in her church and community. Her mission was to give people smiles and laughter, often as either a clown or Mrs. Santa. She was a life-long member of Buckingham Church in Glastonbury, where she was known for her corn chowder and baked beans. From June, 1992 to June,1993 she served as Deputy Grand Regent for the State of Connecticut for the Women of the Moose, with duties including visiting every WOTM Chapter in the state. Pat was also active in the Elks Emblem Club, and was an avid league bowler. She loved reading, fabrics and sewing, and camping and traveling with her husband and family (especially in the Model T); and her children still haven’t been able to match her pies and baked goods.
Pat will live on in the hearts and memories of her daughters, Sandra Cyr and husband Leonard of Rockville, and Theda Marinelli of Windsor; her son, Timothy Marinelli and wife Theresa of East Granby; five grandchildren, Echo Garofalo, Sal Garofalo, Cassie Millan, Travis Marinelli, and Trevor Marinelli; and nine great-grandchildren, Hunter, Ryder, Atlas, Lincoln, Sebastian, Vera, Lucien, Sage, and Victor. Pat was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all, and will be greatly missed.
A private burial will take place in Buckingham Cemetery, Glastonbury. Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 30 Carter St., East Hartford, CT.
