Susan Jane Whitaker

Susan Jane Whitaker was born October 9, 1946 in Springfield, MO, and at 69 years, was taken to her eternal home December 8, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lyle Whitaker; parents, Lydia Elizabeth and Edwin Erwin Davis; daughter, Denise Whitaker and son, Douglas Whitaker. She is survived by her children, Deborah Mulkey (Kevin), Victoria Arnold, Richard Whitaker, Edwin Whitaker (Brandy), and Marilyn Guajardo (Danny); grandchildren, Ali Huff, Erich Clay, Andrea Kennison, Kyle Mulkey, Vincent Harmon, Christie Nance, Erin Martinez, Josh Whitaker, James Arnold, Carlos Blake, Justin Whitaker, Alexis, Taylor and Jeremiah Guajardo, Charles and Matthew Whitaker; and many great-grandchildren and friends. Susan was raised in Bolivar, MO; graduated from Bolivar High School and was married briefly at a young age. She moved on her own to Kansas City and lived independently for several years until she met the love of her life. She and Richard worked hard and raised a beautiful family. After Richard passed in 2003, Susan kept residence in Platte City, MO. She retired from a long career with IAAP in 2012. She was also very active with her church, Rock of Ages Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed playing the organ for the congregation, along with many other activities. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am, Thursday, December 10th; with services to follow at 11:00 am, at Rock of Ages Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kansas City, MO. Pastor James Tauscher will officiate. Interment will be at 2:30 pm at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Cameron, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to NorthCare Hospice House or Rock of Ages Ev Lutheran Church.
