Summer (Vun) was born on September 12, 1957, in Kampong Speu, Cambodia to Yoeum Vun and Soeun Sum. Summer married Sophal Chea in the year 1980. He and his wife immigrated to the United States in 1982.
Summer (Vun) began getting acclimated in the new country and working immediately for a number of companies, ultimately landed at Ultrasource LLC as a machinist working on processing and food equipment for the meat and poultry industry for 22 years.
Over 44 years the couple had four girls and Summer (Vun) was set about teaching them independence, to be strong willed, and how to love and to respect your elders. His children remember him as driven, hardworking, protector of the family, and a devoted husband and father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Summer (Vun) was accomplished at mechanics and often spent time fixing things around the house, and especially his wife’s and kid’s vehicles. He was a dedicated individual who loved fishing, outdoors, sports, and going on outings with his wife, along with taking trips with the family over the years. He was also passionate about the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.
Summer (Vun) is preceded in death by his mother, Soeun Sum and his brother, Vuth Vun.
Summer (Vun) is survived by his father, Yoeum Vun (living in Cambodia); his wife, Sophal Chea; his children, Sopha and Shaun Cannady, Judy Vun, Brandi Vun, and Selina Savon; his grandchildren, Charizma Vun, Rondell T. Dillard, II, Reanu Dillard, Shaun Cannady, Jr., and Sander Cannady.
