He was a family man devoted to his high school sweetheart and bride of 68 years, a supportive husband and father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He and Mary dedicated their lives serving their faith, family, friends, church, and community. He was a man of few words, full of wit and wisdom.
Levi was a WWII Veteran in the Army Air Force serving our country in bases around the US. After the war he finished his BS in Chemistry/Physics from CMSU, Warrensburg, Missouri in 1947. He retired in 1982 from Armco Steel after 31 years as a Senior Product Metallurgist.
He adamantly supported the rights of the unborn, missionary efforts around the world, and creation science; he also volunteered time and energy on the education for our children in this country. He was politically active with the MRA and special interest groups supporting our Constitutional Republic. Levi and Mary were a team.
For six decades he was active in Boy Scouting. Being an Eagle Scout himself, he mentored young men through service projects to demonstrate the principles of living up to the Oath. Levi belonged to the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and spent many a night at Osceola. Among other scout honors, he received the KC Council Silver Beaver Award in 1976.
Levi loved his cats, feeding his wild birds, his indoor plants, and was an avid vegetable gardener. He was a lifelong conservationist and recycler, and could repurpose almost anything. Levi also spent many years researching Genealogy.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents and his brothers Cecil and Kenneth Evans. Left to cherish his memory and remarkable life are his daughters, Gloria and Carol Evans of KC, granddaughter Stacy Schreiner and son-in-law Mike, two great-granddaughters Liz Grider and Mary Schreiner, all of Carver. Minnesota.
Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 pm Friday, February 9, 2018 at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 Ne Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri. His ashes will join Mary in the future at Mineral Creek Cemetery in Leeton, Missouri. Memorial gifts may be made to the LIGHT House, Show-Me Christian Youth Home, and the Northland Christian Church mission efforts.
