Franklin PeeWee Hamby, 81, went to his heavenly home on Monday, January 18, 2016, surrounded by his family at the home. PeeWee was born September 16, 1934 in Kansas City to Robert C. and Elva F. (Ford) Hamby. He graduated in 1952 from North Kansas City High School and met the love of his life, Mary Lee Hyatt, in 1954. They were married at Gower Baptist Church, Gower, MO, on June 25, 1955. PeeWee worked at Allen Chevrolet and Feld Chevrolet before opening his own Holler Machine Shop in 1976, which he operated until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and woodworking and had become a master with his scroll saw. PeeWee joined Nashua Baptist Church in 1946, where he was an active member until his passing. He held many positions in the church, but his most honored was that of Deacon since 1962. PeeWee was preceded in death by his parents, a baby brother and brother, Robert H. Hamby. He is survived by his wife, Mary, son, David (Virginia), daughters, Betty (Ron) Harlan, Beverly Hamby, and Donna (Mark) Martin; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 21st at 2:00 pm at Nashua Baptist Church, 11408 N. Main St., Kansas City. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church. Burial will be at White Chapel Cemetery, Gladstone. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
