Carolyn Sickman, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2024, at the age of 71. Carolyn was born on June 24, 1953, in Portland Oregon to J. Stanley and Joan Johnson. She graduated from Western Oregon College with a degree in Education. Carolyn and Paul married in 1983, and together recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. In 2001, the couple adopted their daughter, Lana “Elana”, where Carolyn became the foundation of her family, offering patience and wisdom as they built their lives together. After moving to Kansas City, Missouri, Carolyn began working for FEMA as a secretary, dedicating herself to supporting individuals and families during times of tribulations before retiring after 30 years of service. She lived her life guided by Christian faith, touching the hearts of all who knew her with her selflessness and generosity.
Carolyn will be remembered for her kind, courageous, and admirable heart as well as her witty personality. She was deeply committed to giving back to her community, all while making time for fun and enjoyment along the way. She was an active member of KC Parrot Head Club, where she served on their board of directors as the Community/Charity Director, traveling throughout the United States and listening to Trop Rock music with friends and family. She frequently volunteered her time and donated generously to organizations such as Project 1020, Project ElderCool, Special Olympics, American Heart Association, and the Alzheimer's Association just to name a few.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parent’s J. Stanley Johnson; Joan Johnson; and her brother Stephen Johnson.
Carolyn is survived by husband Paul Sickman; daughter Lana “Elana” Sickman; and brother Gregory Johnson.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the unwavering support of her friends and acquaintances that have blessed her throughout her life, as well as the hospital staff for their compassionate care during her final moments.
A visitation for Carolyn will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119. A service will occur Friday, November 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life reception from 3-5 PM.
