Al attended Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO where he graduated in June of 1965. Shortly after graduation, Al joined the Army where he served from 1966-1968 in Augsburg, Germany in active duty and another four years in the Army Reserve where he was honorably discharged in 1972. While serving in the Army Reserve he married Theresa Ann DeMartino on June 21, 1969. They were happily married for 22 years until her death in 1991.
Al worked for 40 years at Armco Steel where he had the highest seniority of all the employees and ultimately ended up retiring. On January 8, 1971, Al and Theresa welcomed twin boys, Chuck and Joe and continued living in Kansas City. Al made many friends throughout his time in the Army and working at Armco Steel. Al loved fixing and building things out of wood and metal. His favorite past times included working on cars, deer hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He especially loved taking trips with his brother Gary to conventions throughout the United States to reconnect with other veterans.
Al is preceded in death by his wife Theresa Perkins, his father, Ralph Perkins, and his mother, Irma Perkins and his sister, Eunice Colleen Perkins (Lewis).
Al is survived by his two sons, Chuck (Jessica) Perkins, Joe (Tammy) Perkins. His grandchildren, Skyelar Perkins and Mackenzie Craig. His siblings, Gary (Wanda) Perkins, Margaret Longpine, Jim (Donna) Perkins, and Tom (Barbara) Perkins.
A visitation for Al will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 10 to 11am, funeral service will start at 11am with burial immediately following all at White Chapel Funeral Home & Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119.
