It is with sadness that we announce that Willie MacLeod passed away at the age of 97 at the MacGillivary Guest Home on October 21st, 2018. Born in Sterling, Richmond County, he was the son of the late Kenneth Neil MacLeod and Mary Tina (Patterson) MacLeod. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in France, Holland, Germany and Aleutian Islands.
Willie is survived by two sisters, Mary Effie MacPherson and Margaret Munroe, Marion Bridge, and also sister-in-law Eleanor MacLeod of Sydney River. Willie is also survived by a special great, great grand-niece Allie MacPherson and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by brother Sam MacLeod and sisters and brothers-in-law Catherine (Clyde Biron), Annie (Willard MacLeod), Dolena (Camille Tremblay); also by brothers-in-law Allie MacPherson and Hughie Munroe and nephews Kenzie, Roger Biron and Craig Munroe.
The family would like to take this time to thank the staff of MacGillivary Guest Home for the exceptional care given to Willie the last eight years and thanks also to the men’s coffee club which he enjoyed going to. A private family graveside service will be held at a future date at Riverview Cemetery in Marion Bridge.
