It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather Terry Payne on November 29,2018 at the Glace Bay General Hospital with loving family and his close friend Francis Gillis at his side.
Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Bill and Marjorie Payne.
Terry was employed for 30 years with Atlantic Co-Op, completing his career as District Manager.
Dad was an avid fisherman, an enthusiastic cribbage player and a passionate Toronto Maple Leaf fan. He had many joys in his life; his greatest joy was his family. He also loved to travel, but his top destinations were Newfoundland for his fishing trips and New Brunswick visiting his children and grandchildren.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Blanche; daughter Marjorie (Alain) Belzile and their children Catherine, Emilie, Luc; son-in-law Bert Sewell and his son Terry; son Scott (Sheralle); sisters Betty Carabin and Jean Peverill; brother Jerry (Pat); sisters-in-law Annie Payne and Judy (Bob) MacLean; brother-in-law Murray (Catherine) Wadman and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by daughter Terry Lyn Sewell; granddaughter Melanie Belzile; brothers Lorne and Bud; brothers-in-law Harley Peveril and Lloyd Carabin and in- laws Wilf and Myrtle Wadman.
Visitation for Terry will be held on Sunday Dec. 2, 2018 from 7-9pm in Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Monday Dec. 3, 2018 in St Mary’s Anglican Church at 11am with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating. Interment to follow in parish cemetery.
Donations may be made to Cancer Patients Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, St. Mary’s Anglican Church or the SPCA.
