Olive Blanche Vokey

Born in Glace bay on November 26,1932, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Esther Caines.

Mom worked at the Peoples Store for 20 years before she retired. In her retirement she loved spending her days in her flower garden and yard and of course her 3 o’clock happy hour. She always talked about summers she spent on Scarterie Island. She was very loving and would do anything for you, she took care of everyone. Her pride and joy were her 5 girls and she let everyone know it.

She is survived by her 5 daughters, Diane (Sheldon) Briggs, Ontario; Debbie (Gary) Scott; Paula (Blaine) McKinnon; Sandra (Jimmy) Devison and Pamela (Darrell) Gouthro of Glace Bay. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren; Troy, Craig, Darryl, Kenny, Nicole, Scott, Dale, Linsey and Steven; also 13 great-grandchildren. She is survived by brother Jerry.

Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband Samuel of 66 years, brothers Billy, Les, John, Jimmy; sisters Rhoda and Shirley. Also the loss of son Jason at Birth.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Patten Funeral Home, there will be no visitation or service as per family wishes. Burial to take place at a later date.
