Our beautiful mom passed away peacefully Sunday August 25, 2024, at the young age of 92, she was the daughter of the late Billy and Edna (Oldford) MacPherson. Mom is now with the Lord Jesus in heaven. Reunited with her loved ones that went before her, especially her husband Irvin, her son Jerry and her daughter Heather Spearing.
Our mom was a school teacher of 40 years and worked with passion for her students. Her first teaching assignment was a one room schoolhouse in Big Glace Bay with students from grades primary to twelve. Most of her career she worked with special needs children, and they were all so special and important to her. The highlight of her career was a trip to Disney World with her special needs class and their parents.
She loved the Lord and volunteered for many years as the treasurer of the Salvation Army Home League, where she kept meticulous books. Her car was always ready and packed with friends on the way to any Salvation army service or special event.
Her prized possessions were her family whom she and our dad served with love all their lives and tirelessly gave of their time and means. Both friends and family gathered on hundreds of occasions for pool parties, BBQ’s and lobster suppers. Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and just day to day fun with family. Their door was always open, and the fridge was always full and her kitchen always had freshly baked pies and goodies.
She leaves behind 4 sons; Robert (Debbie), Frank (Roberta), Kendall (Kevin) and Scott (Tammy); daughter Anne Larade (Ron); step son Dave Marshall (Barb); Son in laws Chuck Spearing and Bruce Pilling Sr; daughter in law Alison Mackenzie; special and dear friend Daisy Kaifosh; Beautiful grandchildren Bruce Pilling (Norita), Jody Pilling (Valerie), Tammy Boland (Stephen) Stephen Williams (Emily), David Williams (Melissa), Kaylee and Breah Higgins, Jamie Williams, Felicia Williams (Brett) Jordan Larade and Lauren Larade; along with 21 precious great grandchildren all whom she loved dearly.
Also survived by brothers; Ron MacPherson (Karen), Art MacPherson (Betty); sister Alda Swain and many nieces and nephews.
In following Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten funeral Home. Service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in the Salvation Army Glace Bay at 11am. Burial will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
