My name is Bob McCormick and I am heart broken to hear of Jimmy’s passing… He and I were close friends from age 6 or so … 
He lived on Mechanic St and I was across the tracks on union st… 
We spent many a day just vegging together like laying in the grass and finding shapes in the clouds or guessing the year make and model of cars going by(he was good at that)
Or going to Bicycle hill where we weren’t allowed to go or just going to the beach.
I regret not seeing him more over the years but when I was 16 my folks moved to Alberta… so far away… I missed my friends especially Jimmy… I got back a few times but should have made more of an effort to see those I cared about… 
I Miss you Jimmy, but you’ll always be in my thoughts and heart.

I was saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. We went to school together for  many years including graduation and I remember him fondly and also having met up with him many years ago in Halifax.

I first met Jim 20 yrs ago when he first arrived in Antigonish/ port Hawkesbury office. Working under Jimmy’S supervision was a pleasure.always called him (Jim Boss ) .He was a very kind , humble , caring gentleman . We sure had many a good  laughs, his bark was always worst than his bite .!!! A real Softie .

I am shocked to hear of Jim’s passing.I lost contact with him several years ago.In 2012, while going through a divorce, Jim offered me the use of his home.I stayed at Jim’s for 2 months.We had great conversations & some hilarious stories.

Jim and I worked together for many years and I considered him a kind and true friend who always had my back.  He cared deeply about his co-workers and those who reported to him and was always concerned about their well-being and safety.   He could be a real "softie" when it came to helping someone out.  After he moved to the Port Hawkesbury/Antigonish office, we regularly chatted on the phone and always had a good laugh about something.   Although I had not seen Jim for quite a few years, we did keep in touch now and again and it was always like no time had passed.   I will miss him and send my sincere condolences to his family.

I loved 🥰 him and he loved me. We spent a lot of time together just sitting in a car in the backyard behind his parents house. When I met him and he asked me for a date I said yes. His hair was long and over the shoulder. When he came to my house to take me to his prom /dance he had a short haircut. As you know, Jim was my oldest friend in the world.  He was one month older than me and we lived next door to each other on Mechanic Street.   I can just picture Mary and Millie walking down the street pushing baby carriages.  Living in two company houses, we shared a driveway so, needless to say, we became inseparable.  Jim reminded me recently how one person in Glace Bay called us Mutt & Jeff because, if you saw one, you saw the other.  And that was so true.  My family moved to the Highland St. area when I was 5 years old but that didn't keep us apart.  Your house was on my way to school and every school day, I would stop at your house to pick up Jim.  He'd be sitting at the kitchen table having his breakfast - tea, with lots of sugar and toast.   And then off we would go, looking for whatever trouble little boys could get in to.  We laughed abut how bad we were but we were not really all THAT bad - lol.  I have so many wonderful memories of my time with Jimmie.   Even in recent months, when Jim was not feeling very well, we would have wonderful conversations mixed with LOTS of laughs.  I joked that he couldn't leave because he is my memory.  God, he remembered everything!   The day he called to tell me he did not have long to live we both cried and shared our love for each other.  And then we found something to laugh about.  I told him that he could not die because my plan was that he and I would live forever.   He said that had been his plan as well but things don't always go as planned.  Karen and Linda I am so pleased that you were there to take care of Jim when he really needed to be cared for.    I know that he really appreciated your support and that it was frustrating for him that he needed the help.  You certainly made his last months so much more bearable.  In my view, you are two beautiful angels.  God I miss you Jim!!

I was saddened to learn of Jimmy’s passing. I first met Jimmy at MSVU in the late 70s. We quickly learned we had some common friends from CB. Whenever I ran into Jimmy he was always happy to see you with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. My deepest sympathies are extended to Jimmy’s family and friends.

This really is a tough one!  

Jim and I met many, many years ago in Glace Bay while the girls from New Waterford were shooting the drag.  Since then, the decades have rapidly passed but we maintained our friendship, sometimes from afar but it has always remained rock solid.  Jim had a big heart and was very compassionate......especially to those he considered his friends.  Friendship meant a lot to Jim which was why he would call to check up to see how you were doing or just merely drop by for a visit.  Throughout his illness our conversations were sad, but his attitude was always positive.   Retelling old stories was the best tonic and we had many stories to reminisce.  Needless to say, his version and mine were never in sync which made it even funnier.  Similar to many others I will truly miss my dear friend Jim and his mischievous laugh...RIP.

I am sad to hear of Jim's passing. We were in contact just recently and he talked about how hard he was fighting this illness.  Jim came to my rescue at a hard time in my career and he was just what I needed. Even at the worst of times he would make me laugh and he stood by and with me when I needed him. It is difficult to find words when a friend has left us.  Jim was a gentleman. He was caring and loyal to folks lucky enough to be called ‘friend’.  We don’t know what lies on the other side but I hope it is deserving of this fine gent.

I still can’t believe you’re gone. There isn’t a void left, it’s an abyss. You’ve been more than an Uncle to me; one of my biggest supporters, a shoulder to cry on, a voice of reason when everything was crazy. We could have an entire conversation without speaking a word, and you would just laugh that dry hearty laugh. Even when you got sick, it was my goal not to dwell on the gravity of the situation but to find something we could laugh at. You’re just as twisted as me so it really didn’t take much. 

You were larger than life. There was nothing more exciting than the summer or a holiday on Currie Street, because we knew at some point there would come your two door coupe turning onto Burke’s Lane. We would wait for that black hair and leather jacket to climb over the steps to hear your big booming voice, and be off on some adventure with you and Jamis.

I love you. I miss you. Who could ever forget you? Thank you for being there when things got hard.

The Snow Family: Graduated from Morrison High with Jimmy. He was always pleasant to be around and gave you a feeling of calmness. Over the years we didn't see each other very often as our lives took different paths but  when he was home in Glace Bay and we happened to see each other it was like time stood still and he was the same person who was always great to talk to  and joke about things. Jimmy was a heck of a great guy, all around, all the time!
