Its with broken hearts that we share the news of Crystal’s peaceful passing at home on Aug 9th, 2024 at the age of 47. Her closest friends and family were by her side providing comfort. She had lived with A.L.S. courageously for the past year.
Born in Glace Bay, NS on Nov 16th, 1976. Crystal was the daughter of Gary Royal and late Mary Royal who also bravely battled A.L.S. Together with her former husband they brought three beautiful children into the world. Her children were her pride and joy who grew up to become her best friends.
Crystal was a strong woman with a heart of gold who always put her children first. She was a beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. She would always went beyond expectations for those who needed help and love. Her love of Halloween and the Horror genre was unparalleled. She loved to display her collection and share this love with everyone. Her other favorite interests were music, social gatherings, dance parties and the Boston Bruins (We will forgive her for that.)
We want to thank the many medical professionals of the CBRH palliative care team, the ICU nurses and Dr Laith Shimon who helped grant her final wish of being able to pass peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on such short notice. We are also grateful to the NB/NS ALS Society, a charity Crystal helped raise thousands of dollars for over the last 15 years.
Crystal is survived by her father Gary royal, brother Tyler Royal, former husband Terry Sparrow and their children Jeremy, Jordan and Tyson Sparrow. She will also be fondly remembered and missed by her companion Troy MacLeod.
There will be a graveside service in honour of Crystal on Tuesday Aug 13th at the Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay at 3pm. Donations in Crystals memory can be made to the ALS Society of NB and NS.
