Born in Glace Bay General Hospital on December 27, 1952, and affectionately known to many as “The Big Guy '', Albert Dean was the son of the late John and Louise ( Lawrence) Dean.
He was a man of many hats and can be defined by his love of family, friends, good times and hard work. He began at SYSCO in 1973 and then spent 24 years with DEVCO doing a variety of jobs, before finishing his career as a proud coal miner. His machinist training took him to the oil fields of Alberta before he switched hats again, and worked as a security guard for First Strike. His final job was as a school bus driver with the CBVCE.
Albert is survived by his adoring wife Debbie (Nega), children Angela Langley (Lorne), Jason (Michelle) and Terri Dean-MacNeil (Warren), grandchildren Sidney, Grace, and Aaron Langley and William, Isaac and Jesse MacNeil, mother-in-law Carmel Nega, brother Jim (Colleen), nieces Tracy, Tami and Natasha, Brother Dennis (Beverly), sister-in-law Brenda, niece Kelly and sister Elizabeth (Marv) King, nephew and nieces Tyler, Shelly, and Jennifer, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Predeceased by parents, brother Reggie, and father-in-law Bill Nega.
Many thanks go out to all who have reached out to offer support. Albert will be missed by his Harley Davidson biker buddies, and the Cape Breton Classic Car Club.
A service will be held at Saint Mary’s Anglican Church in Glace Bay on July 24, 2023 at 11:00am. We would like everyone to celebrate Albert’s memory the way he celebrated life. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.pattenfuneral.com.
