It is with profound sadness, we the family of Alan Darby MacAulay, announce his passing on July 12, 2022 at the Glace Bay Hospital, following a brief illness. Darb was born January 18, 1956 along with his twin brother Stuart to Florence and Kerr MacAulay. Darb was a quiet man with many talents. He graduated from Morrison Glace Bay High School and attended CCB acquiring a diploma in Environmental Technology, coming first in his class. He worked at Sydney Steel until its closing. He became an excellent cabinet maker and spent many hours building and finishing furniture. His attention to detail was second to none.
Darb was predeceased by his parents Florence and Kerr MacAulay, sister Kerry Daigle (John), niece Laura Leger (Theron) and nephew Roddie Daigle.
Darb is survived by his loving companion and soul mate Colleen Morrison, Brother Bill (Joanne), twin brother Stuart (Kathy) and special aunt Blanche Headley (Kevin). He is also survived by his special niece Caelin (Derek) and nephew Alex (Emily), along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was also leaves behind a close circle of friends Mike Burns, Blaise and Dakota Boutilier and Peggy Peter Gaskell.
We would like to thank doctors Nathanial and Poulos for the care given to Darb. We want to express our gratitude to the nursing, dietary and housekeeping staff on the 3rd East Glace Bay hospital. The exemplary care given to Darb was phenomenal. It will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place and upon his request there will be no visitation. There will be a private burial at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, Caleb’s Courage Legacy Fund or a charity of choice.
