Tracy Steven Copeland, 61, of Leander, died Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Cedar Park Regional Hospital after a long illness due to a stroke in 2010. Born August 6, 1957 in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was the son of the late Clyde J. and Bobbie Rodgers Copeland.
Tracy married Carol Koteras Melia Copeland on July 26, 1991 in Austin, Texas.
Tracy is survived by son Jamie Copeland and wife Samantha and granddaughters Paige and Presley. Stepdaughter Korrie Melia Johnson and husband Jason and stepson Chandler Melia. He is also survived by his 5 siblings, Randy Copeland, Susan Nunnery and husband Michael, Mary Copeland, Kelley Knoblett and husband Ken, Robert Copeland and wife Trisha. Tracy is survived by nieces; Katy Ross, Sarah Nunnery, Kristen Nelson, Kodi Copeland and nephews Ryan and Todd Copeland and TJ Nelson. He is also survived by brother in laws Alley, Frankie, Gilbert and James Koteras, along with their spouses and children. He is also survived by 9 great-nieces and nephews, countless cousins and loving friends.
Tracy attended Lanier High School and then served in the United States Army. He lived his teen years and adult life in the Austin, Texas area where he loved playing co-rec softball. The teams always included family and friends. Tracy owned and operated American Auto machine shop in North Austin for several years.
Tracy’s long time hobby was stock car racing. His car was #54. He loved to work on his race cars with his long time friends. They would race at the Longhorn Speedway and San Antonio Raceway just to name a few, winning a lot of races.
The visitation will be on April 22, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary immediately following at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 1200 S. Bagdad Road in Leander. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., April 23, 2019 in the chapel of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Leander. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram, Texas at 4:00 p.m.
