Susan G. Russell

Susan, born on September 10, 1946 to Charles and Lillian Gates in Bennington, Vermont, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Susan went on to graduate from Bennington High School in 1964.

In 1964, she met the love of her life, Elwood A. Russell Jr. and the two were inseparable from that point on. Susan and Elwood were married for over 55 years. Over the 55 years they resided in Vermont, New Jersey, Florida, Arizona and Texas.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lillian Gates, sister Kathleen Stevens, brothers, Herbert and Randall.

She is survived by her husband, Elwood Russell Jr.; 5 children, Christine and her husband Wiley Jackson of New Braunfels, TX, Charlene and her husband Chris Havelka of Burnet, TX, Cindy and her husband Jesse James of Pflugerville, TX, Elwood A. Russell III and his wife Belia of Dripping, Springs, TX., and Cheryl Russell of Houston, TX; step-daughter, Robyn Whitney and her husband Robert of Adams, MA; 10 grandchildren, Sarah Walker and husband Justin, Wiley Jackson and his wife Rebecca, Christopher Jackson and wife Amanda, Charlie Cortinas and his wife Felicia, Stephanie Williamson and her husband Wesley, Eric James, Madeline Russell, Matthew Russell, Ava Russell and Elwood Russell IV.; 4 great- grandchildren; along with two sisters, Janice Bushee, and Melinda Onorato and her husband P.J.

Susan was a fiercely dedicated mom to all of her children, raising all five of them to accomplish great things. Family always came first and was above all else to Susan, a value she instilled in all of those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.
