Roland graduated from Healdsburg High School in 1957, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 until 1961. After naval service, Roland worked in the San Francisco Bay area. He later moved to Healdsburg, California, where he worked for the county of Sonoma, and later for the City of Healdsburg for 23 years in the Public Works Department. He retired from the city of Healdsburg on July 26, 2002. In retirement, Roland and his wife Lena moved to Georgetown, Texas in 2004 to be near family.
Roland loved to garden and tend to his yard. He also loved watching sports, especially the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. Roland also enjoyed bowling and was in many leagues in California and Texas.
It is hard to summarize an entire life in a few words. Roland was an incredible Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grand Father, Great Grand Father and friend. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Roland was a worrier and always worried how everyone in his family was doing. Roland, in his 85 years, came across a lot of people from friends, friends of his children, coworkers, family members, to bowling partners; and all of them only had kind words to say about Roland. Roland made sure that he accomplished the goal of every parent: that the lives of his children were better than his own. Roland always liked to pick on his family, especially his son and great granddaughter Emilia.
Roland is survived by his wife, Lena Arguelles of Kempner, TX; his son, Paul Arguelles and wife Tracey of Kempner, TX; his daughter, Vickie Wustrack of Ripon, WI; his sisters, Irma Ruiz of Santa Rosa, CA and Rita Arguelles of Healdsburg, CA; his grandchildren, Daniel Wustrack of Westfield, WI, Amanda Wustrack of Menasha, WI, Austin and Savanna Arguelles of Austin, TX, Carolann Arguelles of Kempner, TX, and Tino Arguelles of Texarkana, TX; his great grandchildren, Addie, Ayden, Alec, Peyton, Lily of Wisconsin, and Emilia of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews from all over the United States.
