Mildred Lopez, a cherished pillar of warmth, devotion, and strength passed away on July 4, 2024, in Georgetown, Texas, at the age of 74. Born on June 29, 1950, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Mildred's journey led her to touch many lives with her enduring faith, spirit and grace.
Mildred dedicated her professional life to the service of others, working at esteemed organizations such as Hewlett Packard, United Way, and DePaul in Rochester, New York. Her career was marked by a commitment to community and an unyielding work ethic.
A woman of many passions, Mildred celebrated life with vigor and joy. She was an avid reader and lover of mystery movies, and her hobbies included puzzles, audio books, baking, and bird watching. Her love for Christmas was profound, engaging in the festive spirit year-round. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, often reflected in her regular bible studies, and day to day walk. Mildred loved her family fiercely, and prayed and decreed blessings and safety over them all and the generations to come.
Mildred's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Surei C. Scanlon and Marisa C. Freo; sons-in-law, Kerry Scanlon and Stephen Freo; grandchildren, Jacinda Knightner, Randy Knightner, Christine Scanlon, Savannah Freo, Sydney Freo, Sierra Freo, and grandson, Elijah Freo. Former spouse Luis R. Zamot. She also leaves behind her mother, Marcelina Rodriguez de Lopez; sister, Yvette Mangual; and brother, Jose Manuel Lopez. Her father, Juan Jose Lopez, preceded her in death.
A memorial service for Mildred will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628, with a reception to follow until 5:00 PM.
