Kathy was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey on April 11, 1949. She shares her birthday with both of her granddaughters. Kathy married her childhood sweetheart, Alan M. Kane Sr. on June 30, 1967. They shared two children together, Kimberly (Kane) Evans and Alan Kane.
She will always be remembered as an incredible daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loving friend. Her beautiful smile, along with her kind, generous, and loving heart will never be forgotten.
Kathy was loved by everyone she met, because she truly cared about everyone she met. She did not know a stranger. If you were in her path, you would soon be her friend. She saw the good in everyone and was always there for anyone who needed her day or night.
Kathy had several passions in life. She was an amazing cook who loved to try new recipes and collect odd, single-purpose kitchen gadgets, i.e. the infamous grape peeler. Without fail, if you were a guest in her home, she would treat you to one of her world famous salads or ask you if you would like her to whip up a “nice egg with cheese.”
She was a true traveler and explorer. She was always out and about and up for exploring a new place or sharing her favorite spots with those that dared to keep up with her. Have you ever tried to visit all that San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Monterey Bay have to offer in a single day? She did … and nearly everyone who visited her home in the Bay Area did at least once as well.
Some of Kathy’s happiest travel memories were those shared with her husband, Alan. They traveled the world near and far together, albeit with too much luggage. Hand in hand, they set off on their adventures and came back home with memories that could fill several lifetimes.
Kathy was all about her family. She loved spending time with her family. Her favorite place was with her family. Lucky for her, there are a lot of us.
Kathy leaves a very large extended family behind, she is survived by her husband of 54 years, Alan M. Kane Sr.; Daughter, Kimberly Evans and husband Michael Evans of Katy, Texas; Son, Alan Kane and wife Katie Kane of Cedar Park, Texas; Grandchildren, Brittany Evans Johansen and husband Lance Johansen of Katy, Texas, Kailey Evans of Katy, Texas, Hudson Kane and Harrison Kane of Cedar Park Texas; Great Grandchildren, Kennedy Ryanne Smith, Beckham Michael Smith and Kori Kane Johansen of Katy, Texas; Mother, Carolyn Andreas Balzer of Stafford, Texas; Father, the late Robert Rhodes and wife, Louise Rhodes of Toms River, New Jersey. Sister, Gail Cecere of Stafford, Step-sister, Nina Hokanson of Toms River, New Jersey. Kathy had a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from all over the country.
Kathy was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
