She was born on September 4, 1913 in Haynesville, Louisiana and lived an exemplary Christian life! Her beloved husband, Hollis C. Allen, to whom she was married for over 74 years, preceded her to Heaven, as did all of her siblings. Her family remaining on earth are her children, Barbara Allen of Edwards, Colorado and Wes Allen of Austin, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Mary Allen, also of Austin, Texas; her three granddaughters, Cathleen McLean of Arlington, Texas, Valerie Waitley of McGregor, Texas and Julie Marchand of Austin, Texas; three grandsons-in-law, Jeff McLean, Tom Waitley, and Elliott Marchand; and 7 great grandchildren, Kelley and Jaclyn McLean, Cydney and Alex Waitley, and Joseph, Daniel and John Marchand.

Helen went to Hardin Simmons University from 1930 to 1934 in Abilene, Texas where she met Hollis and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She taught school briefly, but mainly she was a godly wife and mother, and later grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved the LORD and was active in her church(es). She loved to share the gospel and help people come to know the LORD, and was active in Child Evangelism for many years. She led two of her granddaughters to come to know Jesus as their LORD and Savior. She and her husband lived much of their life together on a farm in Petersburg, Texas, then on a ranch in Boulder, Colorado, then on a ranch in Edwards Colorado, and then on another ranch in Georgetown, Texas, selling each property to buy the next. She loved gardening, and being outdoors. Having a picnic was one of her favorite things to do. According to her family, she could “out-hike” any other woman at high altitudes in Colorado. She was a gracious lady, loved by all who knew her.
Arrangements by Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, texas 78628 (512)863-2564.
