Gail Sanderson Mitchell

Gail Sanderson Mitchell of Liberty Hill, Tx, a beacon of love, resilience, and unwavering strength, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on May 25, 2023, at the age of 73. She was born on June 2, 1949, in her beloved hometown of Austin, TX, to her adoring parents, Charles and Helen Sanderson.

Gail's life was marked by deep love, devotion, and the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Hugh C. Mitchell Jr. (1968-2001), who shared a lifetime of cherished memories.

Gail held her family close to her heart, finding joy and strength in their love and companionship. She is survived by her brother, Alan Sanderson and wife Wanda, and her sister, Debby Toenjes and husband Ron.

As a mother, Gail's love for her son, Jackson Mitchell, was immeasurable. She supported and followed him around to all his baseball games from Little League through college. Gail's legacy of love and strength will forever be remembered and cherished. Gail is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Amber Mitchell and her beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Sarah, Strader, and Ryder Mitchell, who brought joy and love to her life. Her surviving nieces and nephews are Todd Toenjes, Ryan Toenjes, Craig Sanderson, Christy Sanderson Murphy and Melanie Mitchell.

Earlier in life her hobbies were going to car shows and racing with her husband and being a part of the Longhorn Corvette Club. Many times she bragged about beating him on the drag strip. Later in life she enjoyed traveling with her companion Billy House and her best friends, who she called the W.W.W. girls.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday June 10th, at 10am at Liberty Hill Cemetery to honor Gail's life and celebrate the love and memories she shared with her family and friends. In memory of Gail, in lieu of flowers, her family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to cancer research, support, and advocacy.

Gail Sanderson Mitchell's unwavering love, compassion, and resilience will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire us to embrace life with love, kindness, and strength.
