This is sad news. I went to High School with Ned at Gulf Comprehensive High School in New Port Richey Florida. I also lived right down the street from Ned. We had lots of fun playing football on the JV and Varsity teams. By the loving comments left on this website it looks like Ned was loved and respected by all. Rest in Peace Ned.

I wish you love and peace Ned. I only knew you over the phone and conversations, always upbeat, happy, helpful and a true pleasure to have known you. I’m sure God has you by His side.

Ned is one of my best friends. Every time we visited Austin. He will always invite us join all kinds of activities. Thus, every time he came to Shanghai. We usually hanged out together. This pic was shot in Starbucks Cosmic Flagship Store in Shanghai. He told me he was on special diet, only eat meat no carbohydrate. He asked me if I can see the difference. I said "no". Several days later, Ned told me he spent 1500 USD per month to raise horse for Teri. But he never knew if it was delicious. Then, that night, we went to the Sashimi house and order horse meat Sashimi...... Ned only had two notable words that night. "Horse meat not good as fish" "Don't tell Teri..."

 One of my dearest friend, Ned was the most generous. I met him as a new hire at IBM where I had been working for a couple years.  We became culinary lunch buddies and developed our Mexican, Indian, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese repetoires over the the site’s cafeteria at ever opportunity. No better way than to develop a friendship than over bowls of steaming noodles, piles of sushi, or plates of meat.  We bought out first custom made “Texas” style offset firebox smokers together and smoked on them for about 25 years, after which Ned wore his out.  He treated many of us to semiannual BBQs where his pit master skills produced both tasty and varied dinner items. My best memories were our many adventures scuba diving in Mexico at Palancar, doing drift dives or descending the barrier reef wall off Cozumel. We night dived sunken wrecks and explored the Los Ojos Cenote in Yucatán as well.  Although hard to be Ned’s equal, we shared a love for fireworks too, always wanting to be our own pyro masters every season.  I dove hunted and hog hunted with him over the years too, and I think he has made himself an excellent Texan during our time as friends.  Ned was also one of my most favorite Pitch card game  adversaries.  He was my best friend. I will miss him!

I met Ned a few times because of my friendship with his brother Tim. I could tell from Tim how much he was loved and meant to his family.  My sincerest condolences and wishes go out to his entire family.

Ned is an interesting friend. He always brings endless happiness to people around him.  

Not only colleagues, but also friends.  Miss you, Ned. 

It's really feeling very very sad to think back over all the memories for mourning Ned.  He was a very kind and generous guy I ever met.  It's so shocked to know he left us over one night and dropped me in depressed mood for several days. 

As a member of OpenPOWER China team, Ned was one of the most friendly US friends to us, and I think no one would be agaist to this opinion in all the team.  Many people around me like him very much too. 

China team was new to OpenPOWER area in 2015, and most of us were still young at that time. Ned gave us lots of help and guidence. I 'v never seen him blame anyone for the job but lots of paitence and encouragement.  He has a "big and strong" looking appearance, but a very "warm and soft" heart  

Not only help us on the work, he also like to spend much personal time taking care of us when we were on business travel in Austion, like taking us for good foods and beautiful scene.  I know he has taken many China colleagues for those places for several times but he still like to do that for us. It's so grateful and warm. That's really scarce as most people were busy and spare time were so cherish.  Ned put us on a high priority. 

I feel Ned tends to be nice to all the guys around to him. That's a magic power and make so many people like him indeed.  A noble soul is something makes a person different and shining.  Ned certainly has such a soul and win our trust and favour. He deserves our long long memories.  

Deepest Sympathy to Ann , Terry, Coleman & Tim. Our hearts are broken for you all at the  loss of your beautiful son, dad and brother at such a young age. Niall & Anne Sommerville , Dublin, Ireland . 

Ned had worked in the Blade Development team with me for almost 6 years (2006 to 2012) 
He was a wonderful engineer and very good loyal friend. He was always willing to go the extra mile for any project and really tried to push the boundaries of good engineering. He was open and honest about his thoughts and I appreciated his straight forwardness and his kindness.  I cannot believe that we lost him so suddenly. My heartfelt and sincere condolences to his family.  May god rest his soul and may he be at peace.  We will miss him.

Grandmommie’s fountain which we were NEVER allowed to play in as children…..until Ned and Tim became owners then Curtis would jump in and splash all around at every visit!

Ned was 13 years older than me so we didn’t have a lot in common growing up. Luckily for us we became closer when we became adults and we will miss being invited over when he came to town for fireworks, playing in the fountain and always yummy dinner!

Curtis’ memory of Ned will always be the fireworks and smoke bombs he allowed him to play with at a young age in grandmommie’s yard!

Ned, really appreciate all the guidance when I was in IBM OpenPOWER team. You are always willing to help and share your knowledge and wisdom. R.I.P.

We have the same birthday Apr 24 - I'll miss you, Ned.  

Our children affectionately knew Ned as Grumpa, this was per his request of course.    Contrary to the name we knew him to be loving, fun, and wonderful to be around.  His sense of humor and love for life will always be remembered.

Ned, every year, the  friends gathered in your house, enjoying the delicious food. You are loved by us forever. 

I've known Ned for probably 20 years. I would see him sporadically via his brother Tim. The first time I met him I instantly liked him & felt as though I'd known him for years. Ned was a kind rascal of a man. Mischievous, life-loving & whenever Tim would tell me Ned is coming it always put a smile on my face. He has left us too soon & will be missed. My love & prayers go to his family. He will be missed.
