Donald George Nedrud, 89 years old, of Georgetown, Texas, went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 20, 2018. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 11:00 am at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Georgetown, Texas.
Don was born on February 8, 1929 in Minot, North Dakota, to Carl Ludwig Nedrud and Gladys George Nedrud. After graduating from West Seattle High School as a track star, Don went back to Minot State University where he played football. Don enlisted in the United States Air Force and was an Air Traffic Controller at Tinker Air Force base in Oklahoma City where he met Mary, his wife, of 66 years. Don started working at AT&T in Kansas City where his children were born and then transferred to Irving, Texas. After 30 years with AT&T, Don retired early to enjoy his interest in hunting and the outdoors.
He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church for over 20 years and strengthened his faith through his Walk to Emmaus and was devoted to his reunion group for years. Don was proud of his Norwegian heritage as evidenced in his leadership role in the Viking Fest held in Georgetown and the President of the Sons of Norway Lodge in Austin.
Don is survived by his wife, Mary, and children, daughter Jan Johnson (husband Bill Hartley), son Michael Carl; and daughter Donna Dungan. Grandchildren: Michael Johnson (wife Crystal), Brookes Dungan, Stefani Hartley Mullin (husband Sean), and Amy Nedrud Wagner (husband James). Great grandchildren: Rachelle Johnson, Michael Trent Johnson, and Michael Wagner.
Don is one of eight children and is survived by his brother, John Nedrud (wife Kaye), and sister, Patti McKinney (and husband).
