Austin “Coddie” Ray Perry passed away unexpectedly on April 28th, 2023, in Georgetown, Texas. Coddie was born on February 21st, 1986, in Round Rock, Texas. He was only 37 years old. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.
Coddie grew up in Lago Vista as the youngest of five children. He spent his childhood making trouble with friends, riding his bike with his sisters down to the lake, roughhousing with his two older brothers, and playing Super Mario Brothers on his Nintendo. As a teenager, he drove around town in his ‘86 Caprice with his homemade speaker boxes that rattled every inch of his car. After graduating from Lago Vista High School in 2004, he attended Texas Bible Institute, where he earned a ministry program certificate. In 2006, Coddie moved out on his own and began working at Fry’s Electronics, where he grew his passion for car audio systems. This passion led him to a job at ACE Audio as an Audio Video Technician for six years. Through his hard work and dedication, Coddie advanced through multiple positions and employers and ultimately worked as a Project Engineer at AVI-SPL. In 2013, Coddie and Cassie fell in love on the dance floor at Graham Central Station. They soon moved in together and started building their life. On October 28th, 2017, they exchanged vows and tied the knot.
Coddie had a love for many things. He loved flying his drone to capture the beauty of the world around him, namely the sunsets. He loved fishing at Inks Lake with his vape and a bottle of beer. The fish, too, loved that he wasn’t very good at it. He loved his guns, the biggest TV he could fit through the door, and feeding the deer every evening. He stayed up late and soaked in an Epsom salt bath as often as possible. He ate spaghetti out of the pot he cooked it in, which was a step up from the Kraft spaghetti he loved as a kid. He was a survivalist at heart and had the equipment to prove it. He had never met a soul he couldn’t talk to for hours on end. For all of these things, he will be missed immensely.
Coddie is survived by his wife of six years (Cassie), his mother (Teresa), his father (Kenneth), his sister (Carmon) and her husband (Jessie), his sister (Amber), and his brothers (Justin and Jason), his nieces (Shelby, Meagan, Mallorie and Nova) and his nephews ( Kodie and Kaleb). He was preceded in death by his grandparents (Woodrow and Norma Thorne, Blossom and Gerald Perry).
A funeral service for Coddie will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78628, following a visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
