It is with great respect and remembrance that we announce the passing of Andrew Nicholas Arendas, on November 11, 2024—Veteran's Day. Andrew departed peacefully at The Wesleyan Nursing Home, surrounded by the compassionate care of its staff and family.
A trailblazer in education within his family, Andrew was the first to attend college, where he served as Vice President of Kappa Alpha at West Virginia Wesleyan College. He later completed his dental education at Fairleigh Dickinson University's dental school. Following his academic achievements, Andrew proudly served in the US Navy for four years, including a tenure on the USS Ticonderoga aircraft carrier, solidifying his lifelong commitment to service.
After his military career, Andrew settled in Southern California, where he established a family and a thriving dental practice that served the community for over 30 years. His dedication to service continued with the US Navy in Southern California, and later with the Indian Health Services in Arizona and the US Army in Texas.
Andrew was a member of the Andice Baptist Church and found joy in his favorite hobbies: cars, fishing, and hunting. His legacy of service and love for his community will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Helen Arendas. He leaves behind his loving wife, Roberta; his sister, Irene; his daughters, Christine and Sarah; and his grandchildren, Drew and Austin, who will continue to honor his memory by living out the values he cherished.
A graveside service for Andrew will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas 76542. Military honors will be conducted by the US Navy.
