Mary Catherine Wise Kiser, age 85, of Southport, North Carolina and formerly of Gastonia, moved her residence to Heaven on Friday, January 06, 2012 at Ocean Trail Convalescent Center, Southport with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Kiser was born in Maiden, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late James Perry and Emma Hoke Wise.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years William Kenneth Kiser Sr.; her beloved son, Jimmy Leon Kiser; cherished grandson, Jason Lee Kiser; and step-granddaughter, Amanda Doubledee.
Mrs. Kiser was educated in Gaston County schools attended Gaston College and Luther Rice Seminary in Jacksonville. She was a member of North Gaston Church of God, Dallas.
She fought a long hard battle with illness, but her faith never wavered. Her life was lived with purpose serving her Lord for 68 years, teaching Sunday School for over 50 years and serving as a tireless prayer warrior for all who knew her. She had a Visitation ministry which took her to homes, hospitals, nursing homes and prisons sharing her love of God and offering comfort and encouragement to all she met. She was a respected Bible scholar with a vast knowledge and understanding of the Word. Her enthusiasm, smile, and genuine love of people impacted everyone she met. Sharing the lives of her family and being with them at every opportunity brought her the greatest joy. Her passion for life and devotion to her family created a special brand of love we called “Granny Love” which was unconditional love, support, humor, encouragement and loyalty. Her genuine gift of herself to others will long be remembered.
Mrs. Kiser leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Brenda Jeffers of Southport, Dianne and husband Tom Lovingood of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina; one son, Ken Kiser and wife Nita of Oak Island, North Carolina; First grandson, Ron Herms and wife Dianah of Gastonia; Bonnie Eady of Raleigh; Lara Arnold of Mt. Pleasant, SC Tricia and husband Chad Raby of Charlottesville, Virginia; Carrie and husband Zack Worrell of Charlottesville, Virginia; Allen Rainwater and wife, Marla of Gastonia; Eric Rainwater of Southern Pines; Patrick Lail and wife, Mishael of Ranlo;
Great grandchildren, Andy Herms and wife, Amanda of Belmont, Wesley Herms of Belmont; Cody Bridges of Gastonia; Kerrie Lee and Peyton Raby of Charlottesville; Christian Eady of Raleigh; Michael and William Arnold of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Cyrus l and Celia Belle Worrell of Charlottesville; Megan and Taylor Rainwater of Gastonia. Katie and Peyton Lail of Ranlo; Nathan and Dillon Doubledee of Gastonia.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia and other times at the home of Ron Herms.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at The Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Collins and Rev. Ted Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
