Mary “Margaret” Brown, 75, of Kings Mountain passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 4, 2023. Margaret loved to laugh and smile. She faithfully watched the SonLife Broadcasting Network and she especially enjoyed listening to Donnie and Jimmy Swagart. She was strong Christian who loved the Lord. She constantly said, “God Bless You,” “Jesus Loves you,” and “Say your prayers.” She enjoyed being outside and tending to her garden. She called everyone “darling.” She was a sports fan. Margaret liked football, especially Tom Brady, and NASCAR. She also enjoyed the Food Network and she especially liked Martha Stewart. She learned to cook better watching the Food Network and her family will miss her ham and turkey. She had a special place in her heart for Red Birds. Margaret’s family, friends, neighbors and all that knew and loved her will miss her.
Margaret is the daughter of the late Adel (Harris) Brown and Clayton Brown. Her sister Frances “Boot” Walters, Alice Mason and Mary Graves, as well as brothers Keith Brown, James “Jim” Brown and Sunny Brown have all gone on before her. Her stepbrothers, C. J. Brown and Dewitt Brown have also preceded her in death. She also had a special cat, Baby, who lived to be 22 years old. Sheba B was the love of her life and Chica B was her special friend.
Margaret leaves behind her daughters Beverly Kinley and her husband James and Priscilla Bolding. Missing their grandmother are her grandchildren, Wesley Kinley and his girlfriend Teresa and Jesse Kinley and his wife Crystal. Her legacy includes four great grandchildren, Clayton, Julia, Keirstin and Mya. Margaret also leave behind three sisters, Madeline Rose, Patricia Capps and Shirley Ghantt. who she loved very much. Margaret was also fond of her fur babies Shayla B, Panther B and Romo B (her dogs).
A service celebrating the life of Margaret will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday January 11, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. The family will receive friends an hour before the service beginning at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service in the Willow Garden of Gaston Memorial Park.
