Mrs. Mary Beard, daughter of the late Clyde and Pauline Tolbert was born January 18, 1934 in York County, South Carolina and departed this life on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Alexandria Place of Gastonia, North Carolina.
She made her home in Gastonia in the early 1960’s.
Mary was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina for many years. She retired from Ti-Caro in the early 90’s. She was a member of American Legion Post #198 Ladies Auxiliary in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Mary leaves behind to cherish her memories; two daughters Chyne Beard and Helen Blake, one stepdaughter Shirley (Balious) Gingles all of Gastonia, North Carolina; one son Richard (Deborah) Beard of Sacramento, California; four sisters: Addie (Eddie) Love, Bonnie (Rufus) Johnson of Gastonia, North Carolina, Deloris Tolbert of Charlotte, North Carolina and Margaret Tolbert of Asheville, North Carolina; four half- sisters: Lucy Cathcart of Syracuse, New York, Martha Sims of Atlanta Georgia, Nancy Taylor, Dorothy Lindsay, Augusta McCoy all of Gastonia, North Carolina; two brothers: William Tolbert of Gastonia, North Carolina, Albert Tolbert of Charlotte, North Carolina; two half-brothers: Thomas Sims of Corona, California, Everette Sims of Gastonia, North Carolina; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one special great granddaughter: Kimora Froneberger and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Life Well Celebrated Ceremony will take place at 1:00 PM ~ Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina with Reverend Albert Tolbert delivering words of comfort to Mary’s family and friends.
Graveside and committal will follow in Four Seasons Garden at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive guests from 12:00 PM ~ 1:00 PM prior to the service.
