She was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland on March 16, 1931 to the late Luther Grafton Wardell and Edna Tarbert Wardell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Aubrey L. Warren and eight brothers and sisters.
She was a homemaker, teacher’s aide at Chapel Grove Elementary School and employee of Eckerd Drug. She was also a long-time member of Unity Baptist Church. She especially loved RV trips to the mountains to Maggie Valley and Mountain Stream camp ground.
Left to cherish her memory and life are her husband of forty-two years, Richard Johnson, children Ronnie (Robin) Warren, Patricia Elliott, Sidney (Debi) Warren, Eddie Warren and Donna (Don) Grant, all of Gastonia; sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 2 at Unity Baptist, 482 N. Myrtle School Road, Gastonia, NC with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m.
