James Lee Plummer, Sr. met his Jesus face to face on December 27, 2022 at the age of 82. He was born on November 28, 1940 in Abingdon, VA to the late Robert Rosco Plummer and Judy Ellen Murray Plummer.
James graduated from Fruitland Bible College in 1980. He was the Chaplain for the Gaston County Marines Detachment 1162 and was also the first Chaplain for the Gaston County Honor Guard. James served with the Honor Guard for several years until Dementia took over his memory. Mr. Plummer was also a member of the Devil Dogs in the Marines.
James was a faithful member of Real Life Church, formerly known as Lucia Baptist.
He will be missed by all who knew him. James was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Helen J. Plummer; step-son, Robert E. Jones; daughters, Debbie P. Benfield, Karen P. King; son, James Lee Plummer, Jr. “Jay”; sister, Francis Snavley and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Fransetta Elaine Plummer Waldtrip; step-daughter, Cynthia L. Jones; sisters, Peggy Price, Stella Thomas, Shirley Haigler and two brothers, Frank Plummer and Elmer Lee Greer.
The family would like to say thank you to all of the staff at Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville for all the care that they provided James in his last few days here on earth.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm. A committal service will immediately follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
